The industrial yarn draw spinning process is probably the most challenging fibre production amongst flat filament yarn manufacturing. High tenacities and extreme good stabilities are required through a wide range of yarn counts.
The various characteristics of IDY yarns like HT (High Tenacity), HMLS (High Modulus Low Shrinkage), LS (Low Shrinkage) as well as SLS (Super Low Shrinkage) are mainly used in fabrics for the automotive industry, tirecord, airbags, seatbelts etc. But also in home textiles such as sun-blinds, marquees etc. and in nautic textiles as canvas, ropes etc. IDY filament yarns are most suitable.
POY and FDY filament yarns are produced from the extrusion of synthetic granulates. During the spinning process the yarn is drawn to different oriented sizes according to the required strength, shrinkage and elongation properties. POY refers to filament yarn that is only partially drawn and is mainly used in texturizing as well as draw warping. FDY is full drawn filament yarn and used for industrial application requiring high uniformity and consistent yarn properties. POY and FDY filament yarns are the starting material for a wide range of fashion, sports, functional and home textiles.
BCF (Bulked Continous Filament) filament yarns are widely used for the carpet yarn production. In a BCF extrusion line the filament yarn is stretched to get the required strength, followed by an air texturing process that gives bulk to the yarn before it is fixed on a cooking drum and winded on bobbins. BCF carpet yarn manufacturers are under considerable strain to meet the high demands on quality and efficiency of the carpet and automotive industry.
